How to perform daily maintenance on skid steer loaders?
Skid steer loaders are heavy machinery used for loading, unloading, handling and stacking materials and are widely used in construction sites, ports, warehousing and industrial fields. Its main functions include moving and loading and unloading various goods quickly and efficiently, improving work efficiency, reducing labor costs, and playing a key role in the logistics and construction industries.
The importance of skid steer loaders is reflected in their ability to handle large quantities of goods in a short period of time, improve operating efficiency, and shorten project cycles, thereby bringing significant economic benefits. In addition, it is able to adapt to various working environments, has high flexibility and can handle different types and sizes of goods, making it an indispensable piece of equipment in the modern logistics and construction industries.
To ensure efficient performance and extend the service life of your skid steer loader, regular maintenance is particularly important. Regular maintenance includes but is not limited to lubrication of the system, inspection and replacement of worn parts, cleaning of air filters, etc. These measures can help prevent mechanical failure and reduce unplanned downtime. Regular maintenance can not only reduce maintenance costs, but also ensure that the loader operates stably under high loads and harsh environments, maximizing its role.
1. Check the lubrication system regularly
- Develop an inspection plan: Develop a detailed inspection plan, including the location of lubrication points, the type of lubricant and the replacement interval.
- Visual inspection: Regularly check lubrication points for signs of leakage to ensure that the lubricant has not been reduced due to wear or leakage.
- Cleaning work: Before adding new lubricating oil, make sure to clean the lubrication points to prevent impurities from entering the lubrication system.
- Select the appropriate lubricant: Choose the appropriate viscosity and performance grade of lubricant according to the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure best results.
- Use lubrication equipment: For hard-to-reach lubrication points, consider using lubrication equipment to ensure even distribution of lubricant.
2. Repair tires or tracks
- Clean the tires regularly to ensure there are no attached debris.
- Avoid sudden braking and acceleration to reduce impact on tires.
- Rotate tires regularly to even out wear and extend service life.
- Replace tires promptly based on manufacturer’s recommended mileage or usage schedule.
- Choose new tires that match the specifications and load rating of the original tires.
- When replacing tires, be sure to perform dynamic balancing to avoid imbalance causing additional wear and tear on the equipment.
- Clean the tracks regularly to prevent accumulation of mud and debris.
- Check the tension of the track to ensure it is within the specified range.
- According to usage conditions, replace severely worn tracks in time to avoid damage to other key components.
3. Overhaul hydraulic system
- When the equipment stops working and cools down, open the hydraulic tank cap.
- Use a hydraulic dipstick to measure the hydraulic oil level to ensure it is within the manufacturer’s specified range
- Take a small sample of the hydraulic oil and check for foreign matter or impurities.
- Use an oil quality testing tool to check the viscosity and acid value of the oil to ensure it is within the normal range
- Check the filter element in the hydraulic system and replace it regularly to prevent impurities from entering the system
- Develop a reasonable hydraulic oil replacement cycle based on the frequency of use and working environment of the skid steer loader. It is usually recommended to replace it every 500 to 1,000 hours.
- Add new hydraulic oil using a clean funnel and pipe, making sure the new oil meets the manufacturer’s specifications
- After adding new hydraulic oil, start the equipment and raise the hydraulic system pressure to normal operating levels
